Gauge: 3.25 stitches to an inch
H hook
Yarn:
Odds & ends of scrap yarn
1 pound of main color (I used white)
Finished size varies with length & number of panels

Panel:
With first scrap color, ch 22.
In 4th chain from hook, dc, and dc in every chain across: 20 dc. Ch 3 (counts as first dc on this & every following round), turn.
Dc across, for a total of 20 dc, ch 3, and turn.
Repeat last row 2 more times, for a total of 4 dc rows. Skip final last 3 turning chain, and end off.
With second scrap color, join in stitch you just ended off, ch 3, and turn. Dc across, ch 3, and turn.
Dc across, ch 3.
Repeat last row two more times, skipping final ch 3, and end off.
Continue in this fashion, changing colors every four rows, as often as you like.
Start second & following panels, make each panel the same length. I like to start all of my panels at once, and work on them all at a time, changing colors frequently & as I run out.
To join:
First panel only:
With main color, join yarn at the end of any row. Ch 3, turn, and work back across the 20 dc you just made. In corner, ch 3 for corner space, dc in same space. Working along sides of the rows, work approximately 2 dc in each dc across, or as needed to have the work lie flat, and crochet dc, ch 3, dc in every corner. Join at the end with a slip stitch, and end off.
Second panel:
With main color, work border as established for first panel, but after joining to the beginning, do NOT end off. Pick up first panel, join long ends together, ch 1, turn. Working through both loops of both afghan panels, sc across, forming a bit of a ridge and a little bit of texture. End off.
Third & following panels:
With main color, work border as established for first panel, and join third panel to the rest of the afghan as established.
When afghan is desired size, work a dc border all the way around, and end off. Weave in ends!
