How To Bind Off In Knitting

After you have finished your first project you are probably wondering how you get it off of your needles, right? The easiest way is to bind off. This is a simple clean way of giving your project a finished edge. Ready to try it? Here's how:

Start by knitting the first two stitches.

Slide the tip of your LEFT needle into the first stitch you knitted on the right needle.

With the LEFT needle lift the first stitch over the second stitch and off of the RIGHT needle.

Now pull your left needle out of the stitch you just bound off. You should now have one stitch left on your RIGHT needle. Knit another stitch and repeat this process until all the stitches have been bound off except the last one on your RIGHT needle.

Cut the yarn about 8" from the end of your work so you have a tail. Thread the tail thru the last stitch and remove the needle. Gently tug the tail to tighten last stitch. Tadahhhh!!! You have now finished your project neatly and it will not unravel. Weave the tail into the project with a large darning or craft needle and it will disappear.

If you have mastered the

slipknot,

cast on,

knit stitch

and the bind off there is no limit to the things you can make. So let's get knitting!
