Super easy beginner free knitting pattern, dishcloth

The super easy beginner free knitting pattern- dishcloth is the perfect first project for new knitters. To complete this pattern you will need to know how to:

Make a slipknot

Casting on

Knit stitch

Bind off

If you have not mastered any of these skills please click on the appropriate page to learn, then come back when you are finished and get knitting! knittin5@knitting-love.com

Supplies you will need to make your dishcloth:

Size 9 us needles 1 skein of Peaches & Cream Worsted Weight 100% cotton yarn. I used color 178 Potpourri (you can choose your own color). It is very important that you use 100% cotton for absorbency and wash/dry ability.

Large craft/darning needle (to weave in yarn ends) Scissors

To begin the dishcloth make a slip knot about 2' from the end of the yarn.

Cast on (co) 30 stitches Row 1: knit (k), turn work Row 2: Knit (k), turn work Repeat the last 2 rows 22 more times (a total of 46 rows).

Your dishcloth should be about 8" square (give or take, it doesn't have to be perfect, it's a dishcloth!). It will depend how lose or tight you hold your yarn. Every knitter is different.

Bind off (bo) all stitches. Cut yarn about 8" from work, pull thru last stitch. Use large needle to weave ends into the dishcloth so they disappear.

You have just finished your first knitting project! These washcloths make great gifts. Make a couple for someone (or yourself) in colors that coordinate with their kitchen.

Check out the free pattern for a scarf. It is just as easy!
